[edit] Woman Bitten In Richmond

Police are searching for a man after a bizarre attack in Richmond last night. A 20 year old woman was walking home at about 12:30am when she was attacked by an unarmed man who bit her on the neck before she fought him off. The man fled the scene after the woman's cries attracted attention from passers-by, who took the woman to Epworth Hospital.

The man is described as being in his mid to late twenties, and Caucasian with brown eyes, shoulder-length light brown hair, and a scar on his left cheek. He was dressed in blue jeans and a red hooded jumper with some kind of emblem on the breast.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crimestoppers on 1300 555 555.

[edit] Mystery Gunshots Fired

Police were called to Carlton late last night after residents reported hearing gunshots. The first call-out occurred around 10pm, with more throughout the night and into the early hours of the morning. Despite the number of calls, however, police have been unable to find who fired the shots, or why.

"We found nothing that would indicate a disturbance of that magnitude, other than the calls themselves," Sgt. Anil Sharma told us. "No bodies, no fights, nothing. But the number of calls we received from dozens of people tells us that the shots did occur, we just can't find the cause of them."

Police are appealing for anyone with more information to please contact Crimestoppers on 1300 555 555.

[edit] Unearthly Noises Clear Docklands

Residents of Docklands were startled and frightened yesterday at the strange sounds reverberating around the suburb. Described as an 'unearthly howl' by several residents, the sound occurred at around 4pm, causing a mass panic as everyone in the area at the time fled.

"I can't really explain it," says Nancy Zhang, 28. "It sounded like there was some sort of giant beast stalking around, but I couldn't really pick the direction the howl came from. All I know is that hearing it made me absolutely terrified, and I just got out of there as fast as I could."

This is a story repeated again and again by the people in Docklands at the time. Not even emergency services workers were immune, clearing the area and assisting those having trouble, such as the elderly or disabled.

Cr Marcus Lunney said that the noise likely came from pranksters taking advantage of echoes in sewerage tunnels beneath the streets. "It being a public holiday weekend, obviously some members of the public had a little too much to drink, and came up with what they thought was a funny idea," he said. "Possibly they took an animal into the tunnels with them. Police are investigating the area in case an animal was taken down there and harmed, also the tunnels are dangerous for members of the public as some of them are no longer used for safety reasons but members of the public are not likely to know which ones they are."

[edit] Body of Missing Coburg Woman Found

The body of Sharon Williams, 23 from Coburg, was found early this morning in a back alley not far from where she was last seen. Her body had been badly mauled by animals, so police believe that it may have been there some time before being found.

Miss Williams was last seen alive at about 3:00am on Saturday the 29th of March outside the Brunswick Hotel, Sydney Rd, Brunswick. She was 160cm tall, with fair skin and dark hair and was wearing a short, low-cut black dress and black high-heel shoes, and was carrying a red leather handbag.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Brunswick Police, or Crimestoppers on 1300 555 555.

[edit] Trades Hall Crackers For Partygoer's Behaviour

The Trades Hall Council and staff are being criticised by council, police and community groups after guests at a private party there last night reportedly let off dozens of firecrackers inside the iconic building. Over half a dozen people apparently ordered boxes of firecrackers to be delivered to Trades Hall, although how many were actually let off is yet to be determined.

Nearby businesses and passers-by were startled by loud gunshot-like noises, are calls placed by them are likely to have contributed to the number of calls police received during the night regarding gunshots in the area.

"I think it's very irresponsible of them," Sgt Anil Sharma said. "Firecrackers should not be used inside – someone could have been seriously hurt. And police investigating serious allegations of gunshots in the area had their time wasted looking into something that turned out to be firecrackers when they could have been investigating these other reports."

Trades Hall spokeswoman Julie Pope said the staff at Trades Hall had no idea of the partygoers' plans. "We hadn't been informed that anything of the sort was going to happen, and we're very disappointed in the hirees," she said. "It doesn't look like the room was damaged in any way, but we will be rewriting our conditions of hire in light of this incident."

[edit] Liberal Party Campaign Off To A Stellar Start

The Liberal Party got a jump-start on campaigning for the State election tipped to be called later this year, with a star-studded campaign launch hosted and televised by Morrow Industries.

Tickets to the fundraising dinner were sold out as Victoria's conservatives – along with a few other interested parties, as several guests were known to be left-leaning – were all curious to hear what policies and visions the new Opposition Leader, Lucius Alderman, had to offer them. It wasn't what many people were expecting, but it was difficult to find anyone who disagreed with the eccentric and charismatic Alderman's ideas. For a full report, as well as a transcript of Alderman's speech, see page 3. (OOC: Transcript to come in a few days time).

[edit] Freak Cyclone Hits CBD

Meteorologists were baffled this morning by a freak cyclone that lashed Melbourne's CBD for barely ten minutes before vanishing as quickly as it appeared. The violent storm, known as Cyclone Flora, damaged many buildings in the area, including Flinders St Station, Federation Square and St Paul's Cathedral, turned the steps of Princes Bridge into miniature waterfalls, caused flooding along the Yarra and threw traffic and public transport into chaos with flooded streets and downed tree branches and power lines. Pedestrians crowded for safety into shops and bars to escape the winds, which reached 250km/hour barely two minutes into the cyclone.

"It's just amazing," said an unnamed source from within the Bureau of Meteorology. "There was nothing on the charts that led us to suspect this was going to happen, and we've never seen a cyclone appear and disappear so quickly, let alone seen one this far south or at this time of year. We think it might have something to do with climate change."

Even more startling, if possible, is that Cyclone Flora didn't displace the almost black cloud that has obscured the sky around Flinders St Station for almost a month. Despite the 250km/hour winds, once Flora had dissipated the cloud was still there, as dark and as large as it had been before the storm. The Bureau of Meteorology has no comment about this at this time, but everywhere you go in Melbourne you're sure to find someone who has a theory on it ranging from the scientific to the religious to the downright bizarre, with some calling it "a sign from God" while others maintain that it's simply heavy smoke mixed in with localised storm clouds.

Five people died as a result of Cyclone Flora. A 23 year old man drowned when his kayak was capsized, a 47 year old woman and a 65 year old man were killed by falling masonry ripped from buildings by the winds, a 31 year old woman was killed when a tree collapsed on her car, and a 3 year old girl drowned when her stroller was blown into the Yarra River. Several more people are in hospital, including the mother of the dead toddler, who jumped into the flooded river in an attempt to rescue her daughter.

[edit] Morrow Inc. Dominating - ASIC Apologises

The ASX has done some major back flips since January with most investors receiving a double-dealing of shocking events. Australian brokers are wondering what was more shocking: the utter collapse of Morrow Inc or its spontaneous and even profitable recovery.

On Friday the 22nd of February, after almost a month of immobilization, Morrow Inc has seen what finance analysts are describing as a complete recovery. ASIC formally apologised yesterday to the Morrow Inc. community, blaming poor communication and information failures as a result of the harsh and draconian investigation. The tax department has also backed down.

Both the ASIC and tax department have drawn nationwide criticism for their seemingly random and invasive practices that put employees and investors at Morrow Inc. under serious financial pressure. Confidence has never been greater in the Media Corporation, many speculators noting that company has indeed survived one of the harshest legal assaults in the last twenty years and has come out of the debacle not only intact but thriving through what is seen A major financial and legal victory. In the financial world Morrow Inc has made a name for itself by overcoming the major obstacles presented by a confused and struggling ASIC and taxation department.

With the release of Lord of Order just around the corner and its latest financial success Morrow Inc. has launched the construction of its new head quarters in the Melbourne CBD – Morrow Tower is set to be one of the tallest buildings to grace the Melbourne Skyline.

[edit] Coburg Woman Still Missing

Police are asking for leads in the disappearance of Sharon Williams.

Miss Williams, 23 from Coburg, was last seen about 3:00am on Saturday the 29th of March outside the Brunswick Hotel on Sydney Road in Brunswick.

Rebecca Taylor, 22, a close friend of Miss Williams was the last person to see her. ?There were four of us, and I was the most sober, so I was making sure they all got into the taxi. I?d managed to get the other two in and I turned around to get Sharon from where I?d propped her in the alcove on the corner and she wasn?t there. I just assumed that she had decided to go home with one of the guys who?d been chatting her up earlier and didn?t think much of it, but no one has seen her since.?

Miss Williams is 160cm tall, with fair skin and dark hair. She was wearing a short, low-cut black dress and black high-heel shoes, and was carrying a red leather handbag.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Brunswick Police, or Crimestoppers on 1300 555 555. Miss Williams family has offered a reward of $50,000 to anyone with information that might help.

[edit] THE DOCKS

Still closed although rumour has it that they will be reopened rather shortly. Some high level heavy weights have come to the table and talks are moving along rapidly. Stand downs by manufacturers are continuing, media reporting how horrific it is to be happening at Christmas – feel bad clips on TV about kids not getting as many presents this year.

[edit] All Hail Connex!

Connex has been praised by the media and government about their continued high standards of public transportation. Trams and trains show record high levels of timetable adherence and as a result the PT system has become more widely used with higher recorded numbers of passengers.

[edit] Sky Watchers Watch Sky

Sky watchers will have observed the recent lightning phenomenon circling Melbourne’s inner suburbs and CBD. Although no rain has come to assist in alleviating the drought, there have been some spectacular sound and light shows for the city to observe. Sources at the Bureau of Meteorology are at a loss to explain the event but have advised that they expect it to continue for a few more weeks until cooler weather arrives. It is being blamed on global warming as there appears to be no other cause.

[edit] Pritchard Up for Murder

Michelle Pritchard has been formally charged with Murder in what the Prosecution claims to be an open and shut case. Many high profile lawyers have refused to take on the defendant due to the obviousness of her guilt. The trial is set to begin in late February. Many pictures of the defendant in handcuffs and the murdered teenager shown as an angelic kid are splashed about the TV screens.

[edit] Mafia Drug Activity

Rumours are high that the two suspected mafia hitmen currently being held in police custody are trading names of drug dealers and manufacturers in exchange for their pardon and entry to the Witness protection program. Following the docks siege in early December over 40 men were arrested and believed to have underworld ties. At this late stage only two remain increasing fuel on the speculation that they are in fact now informants for the police.

[edit] ST PAULS CRISIS

An accident caused by faulty explosives is believed to be the cause of a cave in at St Pauls last weekend. Whilst renovating the church to its former glory, a sealed doorway was found underneath the church and attempts to open it have been thwarted. Two men were injured in the explosion, both losing substantial amounts of blood whilst trying to save the people they claim were trapped in there. Spokesman for the church, Father Ignatius has commented that they were completely unaware of such a doorway. “It doesn’t exist on any of the blueprints going back over 100 years”. The likelihood of people trapped in there is non existent and it is more likely that the two men were referring to each other being trapped. One must remember that they were given considerable levels of pain medication and could certainly be forgiven for the misunderstanding.

[edit] In Finance Today...

Morrow Industries is under investigation by the ASIC for fraudulent activity following their release onto the ASX late last year. It is believed that holdings of the besieged company were not fully disclosed and there have also been rumours of mafia connections. The movie Law of Order has been shut down as a result of the investigation which has frozen all assets and funds. The shareholders and directors are also being investigated by the Taxation Office for what is believed to be tax evasion that could add up to millions. Those who have purchased holdings in Morrow Industries will be contacted shortly by the authorities. In the meantime however a hotline has been set up – call 666 666 666 for further information pertaining to your rights and potential concerns.

[edit] Orphanage Slaughter

Police were horrified at what they discovered at the St. Andrew's Orphanage for Young Girls. After making a routine check in to see everything was fine, two officers discovered a scene not unlike an abattoir.

The Orphanage was the scene of an assault on a resident worker on Sunday night leading in her ugly demise.

Authorities were not prepared for the scale of the newest scene.

At this time officers are searching for five missing girls, as yet unaccounted for.

Police are not ruling out a connection to the previous assault.

[edit] Orphanage Horror

Last night a horror stuck a small orphanage in East Brighton. An assailant, as yet unidentified, broke in and attacked Sister Hazel. She suffered many terrible wounds at the hands of her attacker.

Young children were awoken by her screams and the cries of the assailant of "Absolution!"

The caretaker managed to scare the attacker off before calling for an ambulance.

Police are looking for a man described as just over six foot, athletic, with short brown hair, and a long jacket.

Sketch of Gambit goes here.

[edit] Youth in muddy waters.

In the early hours of this morning, a young 16 year old girl was picked up by police for soliciting at St. Kilda beach. Officers said they knew something was up when they witnessed this teenager dressed in a black t-shirt and skirt stopping cars. They followed discretely before performing the arrest after money was handed over.

A spokesperson declared the act wrong and immoral and that she will be closely watched in future in case she slips up.

[edit] Melbourne’s New Hollywood

Morrow Incorporate share prices rose again today after Tomorrow Vision Studios revealed exciting plans for its first ever film production. Movie fans and investors alike were in celebration after TVS declared that it had officially started production on their big-budget movie “Lord of Order”. Rumours have been running rampant ever since but it has been confirmed that there is an all star Australian cast including famous actor, Zach Hendry, long time news reporter, Elizabeth Dawn and Australian favourite, Stacey Sanders. “I have a vision...” said James Morrow, CEO of Morrow Incorporate, yesterday during his speech at TVS headquarters in Hawthorn. “...and it’s Tomorrow Vision. With TVS leading the way, I hope to make Hawthorn the new Hollywood of Melbourne. A Hollywood to rival that of the United States. Through this beacon of ambition, I hope to harvest the cultural potential of Australia, and turn it into movies.” James Morrow told reporters about how he was inspired by ‘Lord of the Flies’, an allegorical novel by Nobel Prize-winning author William Golding, when dreaming up the idea for TVS’s new movie. TVS head producer, Simon Lee, was unavailable for comment though sources indicate he’s already hard at work, down on the set, briefing the cast and crew.

In related news, property value in Hawthorn has been on the rise as of late, due to increased commercial activity caused by TVS publicity...

[edit] Drinking bad for your health.

Last night a pub in Glenferry exploded resulting in many casualties. So far arson is being ruled out due to what appears to have been a faulty gas-main and a freak lightning strike.

Luckily a Dr. Mathrias Jonavin was in the area and tended injured passers by. When asked what happened he responded that "it was like an act of God."

The body count is estimated to be above 50 at this time.

[edit] GANGLAND MASSACRE IN CRANBOURNE

A new gang war is feared in Melbourne’s south-east after the discovery yesterday of six brutally slain bodies in an apartment in Cranbourne.

Police were called in the early morning after residents neighbouring the abandoned and condemned building heard screaming, shouting, and the sound of furniture and glass being smashed. One resident also reported seeing large dogs involved, one of which was thrown out of the second story apartment’s window and has not yet been found. Police entered the apartment to find it smashed up and covered with blood, with the bodies of six people ranging in age from mid-teens to mid-forties, some of which had been dismembered in the brutal attack.

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” Sgt. Lauren Chapman said. “It was as though wild animals had been let loose in there – the bodies were covered in bite marks, and it looked as though their attackers had just been in a frenzy as not only were all the bodies stabbed multiple times, some had had body parts literally ripped off.”

Police believe the report of large dogs being involved would account for the bite marks, and believe this attack may mark the start of a new gangland war, although the six victims were not known members of any gang.

“We think it may be a new gang moving in, which could have sparked the attack,” Det. Lionel Morgan said. “The bodies all sported a number of burn scars in ritualistic patterns, and we believe these may be gang markings for a new gang – possibly one linked to satanic practices.”

Names of the victims have not yet been released, with police investigations still continuing. Police did confirm, however, that the victims were not all of the same ethnicity as well as being varied in age, and that both men and women are among the slain.

[edit] Cannibalism, the new religion taught in schools?

Around twenty young school children, aged between 5 and 7 are currently receiving counselling after a grisly event involving a middle-aged teacher.

For some reason unknown at this time, the children decided to try eating their teacher. It is being attributed to violent video-games, movies and music.

Police who witnessed the scene described it as one of monstrous carnage, that they'd never seen anything like it before and hoped to never again.

The teacher is currently remaining in Intensive Care due to the wounds sustained and is not expected to survive.

[edit] LORNE CRASH DISASTER

Authorities are still struggling to determine the cause of Wednesday’s horror smash, with 11 confirmed dead and the death toll set to rise as emergency workers sift through the remains of cars caught in the explosion for body parts. Among those already confirmed dead are Argentum Inc. directors and local residents Isaac and Robert Kildare, their sister-in-law and mother of four Josephine Kildare, Mrs Kildare’s eldest daughter Anne and Robert Kildare’s youngest son John.

“It’s an absolute tragedy that five members of one family have been killed in this accident, with the possibility that there may have been others involved, as the Kildare’s have confirmed that at least three other members of their extended family believed to have been on the road at that time are unaccounted for,” says Captain Michael Davidson of the Lorne police force. “Sadly, from what we’ve seen so far the explosion wasn’t the cause of death in all cases, although that’s difficult to determine with the flames having engulfed all the bodies. The explosion caused a great deal of high speed shrapnel, which we’re sure has killed at least one person – John Kildare’s skill was punctured by shrapnel in such a way that it looks almost like a bullet hole, something which the coroner will be taking a closer look at.”

[edit] FIREBALL HORROR ON GREAT OCEAN ROAD

The Great Ocean Road is still closed off near Lorne after a horror smash this morning between a car and a gas tanker caused the tanker to explode, engulfing several more vehicles in a fireball and claiming an unknown number of lives.

Authorities are still trying to determine the cause of the crash, as well as trying to find both the number of dead and the identities of the victims in order to let families know. The tanker was registered to BP, and it’s believed that at least one of the cars was registered to Argentum Inc., although neither company could be reached for comment.

Residents of Lorne said they were first alerted to the 7:30am tragedy when the tanker first exploded, sending flames shooting into the air and causing a tremendous noise that some residents claim they can still hear the echo of.

[edit] The Ghost of the Governor’s Mansion

(There has been a change in Parangima’s logo. As usual, Parangima has managed to give they’re alternative opinions on recent issues – this time involving the Carver)

The Ghost of the Governor’s Mansion (Parangima out-take) By Martin Brin

(page 2 continuation)... and rumours of romances behind the birthday table have yet to be confirmed.

So yes, the attention of the night was to be focused upon the individual known as “The Carver”, however looking deeper into the shadows may bring an unwelcome realisation upon the consumer crazed society of everyday life. All around us we are being manipulated by the sinister ghosts of colonial Australia. No one can deny this fact when the opportunity to experience the paranormal finds you in the most unexpected places. The governor’s mansion just happened to be one of these places. As I mentioned earlier, the celebration was a classy one; the drinks and the celebrities, the high talk and the low down, the blazers and the cleavage, all accounted for. But what wasn’t accounted for? Little did the governor know that a sinister force had penetrated the party, and I’m not talking about the Carver (also known as “John Smith” – creepy). The ghost of a previous colonial governor had found its way into the otherwise happy celebrations. Angry and confused, the sinister spectre tormented the idol of the party, the birthday girl. I was there, I saw the chaos caused by the ghost that undoubtedly rekindled the Carver’s killing spree leading to the stabbings outside the mansion. But of course, this is all just another conspiracy theory right? Wrong. What you read in the Herald Sun is a conspiracy theory. If the mainstream papers really do report the truth then I ask you this; why was it not mentioned in any news platform, be it newspaper, radio show or news television, that numerous occult groups had infiltrated the governor’s party and personally questioned the governor’s daughter? I’ll tell you why, this is of course the culmination of a government cover up that makes modern society nothing more than a bunch of mindless puppets. They don’t want you to know the truth! Just like the cats and dogs rain incident-(continues pg11.)

[edit] THE CARVER ARRESTED?

The Governors mansion became the target of a police raid yesterday when police were called to arrest a man suspected of being The Carver serial killer. The night should have been a happy one, the Governor Alfred Morris inviting the rich and famous to a party in honor of his grand-daughter Juliet's 17th birthday. The night took a darker turn when it was discovered that a man calling himself "John Smith" was not who he claimed to be, police were called to investigate.

"I was suspicious of Mr. Smith from the moment I first met him" the Governor told one of our reporters, "There was just something about him that put me on edge, I don't even think he had an invitation! I immediately called the police because I was concerned for my Grand-daughters safety."

Plain clothed police officers arrived at the mansion to question Mr, Smith, but when confronted, he pulled an electric carving knife, critically injuring several of the officers as he attempted to escape.

"It's true that the suspect almost got away in a stolen car" commented Captain Lorance of the Victorian Police force, "It was only due to the bravery and quick thinking of one of the bystanders that he was apprehended."

The officers injured in the arrest are in a stable condition, the suspect, believed to be none other than Phillip Morgan, the infamous Carver serial killer is in hospital under police guard, he is in a critical condition and doctors report he may have lapsed into a coma.

"Yes, we do believe the suspect to be the Carver" said Captain Lorance, "It seems he may have had plastic surgery to hide his appearance and remove his finger prints which is why we are still unsure if we have out man. We're waiting on DNA tests to confirm his identity."

The suspects arrest is thanks to the effort of none other than Dr. Mathrias Jonavin, a famous and well respected physician. Dr Jonavin was injured in his struggle to apprehend the serial killer, but its believed he will make a full recovery.

[edit] SERIAL KILLER ESCAPES!

Phillip Morgan, the legendary Carver Killer escaped from a maximum security prison sometime around midnight last night. Police have reported that he managed to escape by scaling rooftops and climbing into trees overhanging the prison wall, two guards were killed in the escape and a third was taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a critical condition. The ease of this escape has officials reviewing the security at the prison, one magistrate stating that it was negligence on the part of the prison's warden that resulted in this tragedy; "I can only assume that whoever's in charge of the prison is both blind and stupid! To allow trees to grow over the wall of a maximum security prison to the point where a convicted serial killer can just climb into them and escape… it's beyond carelessness, its criminal negligence!"

Morgan was responsible for a string of 23 deaths in the early 1990's before he was finally arrested in 1995. His victims were all young girls between the ages of 15 and 20, after his arrest he was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison with no chance for parole. The Carver was most famous for his unusual treatment of his victims, in all 23 cases, the girls were dismembered with an electric carving knife while they were still alive.
